Trailer Accident Almost Turns Deadly. Trailer Hitches and Safety

Trailer Accident Almost Turns Deadly. Trailer Hitches and Safety

  • Traffic accidents occur every day across the United States. In 2010 fatalities decreased in most categories, with the exception of pedestrian accidents, motorcycle riders, and those involving large trucks. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that 32,310 people died in motor vehicle crashes in 2011.

We know our U.S. roads are dangerous, and for the gooseneck-trailer hauler it can be a big challenge. Every now and then we receive a call or letter from customers with Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitches who want to share an accident story with us. Like this one.

Hi. My husband Glenn just called to tell you what a great product you have and I've attached photos showing the accident and the impact. We are guessing she was driving 45 to 50 mph while we were in a parked position. Shoved the truck and trailer 8 to 10 feet.

    Keep up the good work!

    Glenn & Sharla

Glenn and Sharla came away from the accident unscathed. The photos that Sharla sent us depict the event much better than I could have describe it.

When you are driving on our U.S. roads be careful. Be aware of what’s going on around you and make sure to follow safety precautions. Make sure to check and double check that your lights are functioning properly, that your safety chains are attached and check all the safety precautions that your truck, trailer and hitch manufacturer recommends. It could save your life.

We are thankful that Glenn and Sharla are safe and sound. Whether it’s gooseneck hitches, fifth wheel hitches or bumper pull trailer hitches do not forget to safety check each time you pull.
