Harley Davidson Unveils New Softail Breakout at Daytona Bike Week

  • About a half million people – including the B & W Trailer Hitches crew – made the trek to the sunshine and open roads of Daytona Beach for the 72nd annual Daytona Bike Week, which ranks a hair behind Sturgis among the biggest motorcycle rallies in the country.

This year’s 10-day fiesta was held March 8-17 and featured the usual bike racing, concerts, parties, street festivals, giveaways and everyone riding the Loop.

Maybe the biggest news to come out of Daytona Bike Week this year was the debut of a brand spankin’ new motorcycle from Harley Davidson: the Softail Breakout – chopped, slammed and chromed in classic dragster style.

This is the base version of the Breakout, launched months after the Custom Vehicle Operations version.Harley Davidson has labeled the Breakout Softail as a premium model in its segment, with finishes and components not available on other Harleys. Pricing starts at $17,899.

Check out this description from Harley Davidson and see if it gets your juices flowing:

A premium custom cruiser inspired by the classic Gasser drag bikes of the '50s and '60s, the all-new 2013 Softail Breakout model rolls with modern power, top-of-the-line treatments and lots of low-down menace. Big wheels, big paint, big chrome, all wrapped in a refined style – the Breakout model is a true attention-grabber with a ride that's been painstakingly engineered for fun whether you're winding mountain roads or cruising the strip. It may be low-profile, but the Breakout motorcycle always makes a big, bold statement.

From the muscular Twin Cam 103 engine, to the massive 18-inch, 240mm rear tire, to the vivid black and chrome finish, the Harley Davidson Softail Breakout had Daytona Bike Week firing on all cylinders.

Now let’s suppose you wanted to be among the first to own this bad boy. When it’s time to trailer your motorcycle or park it in the garage, do you really want to strap it down?

Instead of worrying about strap rash, wasting time strapping and retightening, and running the risk of your Harley tipping over, protect your investment with the Biker Bar. Easy installation, loading and unloading in seconds, complete stability, and no straps rubbing up against your paint and chrome – that’s why Harley riders love the Biker Bar.

We had a great time at Daytona Bike Week. We’re glad so many of you stopped by to see us, and we were definitely blown away by the new Harley Davidson Softail Breakout. If you want to find out more about the Biker Bar, please let us know. We’ll see you in Sturgis in August!
