Broken Bolts and Manufacturing Trailer Hitches

Broken Bolts and Manufacturing Trailer Hitches

  • Have you ever started assembling a product and had a piece break? It’s frustrating. It’s maddening. Then what happens?

We all do it. We get angry and start cussing the manufacturer. Why would they send out such a poorly constructed, low quality item? Don’t they know that it takes a lot of effort to put this stuff together not to mention it takes the wind out of my sails to stop in the middle of the project. Then, the final burst of anger comes out with a vow to never purchase from that company again.

I’ve been there. I was actually there just the other weekend. Then my husband experienced a similar situation the very next weekend. I work for a manufacturer, yet there I was frustrated and upset at another manufacturer. Couldn’t I sympathize? Couldn’t I understand since I know the plight of the manufacturer?

Sadly no I couldn’t. I tried to sympathize and give them the benefit of the doubt that this was a fluke. I tried to tell my husband, when the bolt he was provided broke in half, the manufacture probably just had a bad batch and that they work extremely hard to avoid that kind of thing.

But then I stopped. How would I know if a manufacturer takes pride in their work? How would I know what goes on behind their doors? Each company is accountable to their customers but also to themselves.

B&W Trailer Hitches takes pride in putting a quality product into the hands of our dealers and our consumers. We are not perfect. We make mistakes, but we set a goal of perfection. Behind these doors is a team that works together, makes mistakes together and reaches goals together.  Without each employee being a part of the team and holding a sense of pride in the craftsmanship of our products we would not be able to attempt to reach such a lofty goal.

There are many factors that affect the quality of our trailer hitches; quality of the steel, precision of the welds, the design, but the most important is people. It is vital for a company to value their employees. Without them there is no company. And without their pride and love for the product and company, consumers will always be frustrated.
