B&W Trailer Hitches Turnoverball™ Release for the 2013 Ram 3500
Turnoverball Release for 2013 Ram 3500
As you may be aware, all 2013 RAM 3500 trucks come equipped with a new frame crossmember specifically made for installing gooseneck and fifth-wheel hitches. Our new Turnoverball™ Gooseneck Hitch model for this truck will be GNRK 1314. These hitches will begin shipping on May 20th, 2013.
Watch the video to see the B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch installation of the GNRK 1314 on a 2013 RAM 3500.
Q: What’s different about the GNRK 1314?
A: The most noticeable difference will be that it does not have rails or side plates. It will come in one box instead of two. The box will include a center section, mounting pieces, the handle, ball, and safety chain kit. The operation of the hitch will be very similar to current models. The 2 5/16 ball will be the same ball used in other Turnoverball models.
Q: Will the price change?
A: No, the price will be the same as other Turnoverball models. MSRP for the GNRK 1314 is $494 which is lower than the price of the RAM 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Towing Prep Option ($400, plus the cost of their Gooseneck Ball Kit).
Q: What is the weight rating of the GNRK 1314?
A: The GNRK 1314 has been extensively tested and is rated to tow anything your RAM truck is rated to tow. Do not exceed the Vehicle Tow Rating.
Q: How is the installation different?
A: Installers will find the installation faster and easier than most other Turnoverball installs. Here are a few differences:
- Because RAM left a 3 ½ inch hole in their crossmember, we are recommending a 3 ½ inch hole drilled in the bed, instead of the normal 4 inch hole.
- The new hole template made for GNRK 1314 will locate the drill hole for you. You will no longer need to measure on top of the bed.
- Two of the four safety chain holes will be drilling through the bed and the other two holes will be drilling through the bed and the crossmember.
- You DO NOT need to remove the bed to install our GNRK 1314 hitch.
Q: Will the ball turn over and be stored in the bed of the truck?
A: Of course! The latching mechanism for the ball is located in the driver’s side wheel well of the truck. You do not need to touch the greasy part of the ball to unlatch our hitch.
Q: Where are the safety chain brackets located?
A: The spring loaded safety chain U-bolts will be located within the bed corrugation recess near the ball, similar to other Turnoverball applications.
Q: Will B&W have a fifth wheel for the 2013 Ram 3500?
A: Yes! B&W will be announcing the release of our updated Companion 5th Wheel Hitch, and the redesigned base will work with the GNRK 1314 using a single point attachment similar to the current Companion. Current Companion bases will work but customers must order an additional spacer free of charge from B&W. This additional part attaches to the legs of the Companion and fills in the recess in the corrugations of the 2013 Ram 3500 trucks. Some of the 2013 Ram 2500 trucks also have this recess and will require the additional spacers.
Q: Will other Turnoverball accessories work with this hitch?
A: Yes, all accessories, with the exception of the current Companion are compatible. These popular accessories include the 4 inch extender, 3 inch ball, and king pin which are all interchangeable with the Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch.
